Overview
LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) and other refractive surgeries correct common vision issues such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by reshaping the cornea so that light entering the eye is properly focused onto the retina.
Common Symptoms
- Blurry distance or near vision (depending on condition)
- Headaches or eye strain from uncorrected vision
- Dependence on glasses or contact lenses
Treatment
LASIK uses a precision laser to reshape the cornea and correct the refractive error. The procedure is fast, typically painless, and involves little downtime. Other options include PRK and SMILE, which may be more suitable for certain corneal types or prescription levels.
